Host Security Modules

The HSM 8000 utilizes technology that has been formally validated to the most stringent security standard (FIPS 140-2 Level 3). In addition the HSM 8000 is MEPS II approved for use on the French banking networks. Primarily designed to address the ATM/POS market and back office security services, the HSM 8000 provides all the functionality to address the needs of acquirers, switches and issuers for the processing of magnetic stripe, contactless, and chip card transactions (EMV). It has been integrated with all the leading software applications addressing this market.

The HSM 8000 is evidence of Thales e-Security’s commitment to the ongoing development of the HSM platform and is fully backward compatible with the RG7000 range of HSM's. The HSM 8000 provides an expanded range of market-leading benefits and performance options from entry-speed up to 800tps (PIN block translates per second).

HSM 8000 Key Features:
  • Wide-range of communication interfaces - Ethernet (TCP/IP and UDP), RS232 (Async and SNA), and ESCON
  • Provides security functions for entire payment systems environment - Issuers, Switches and Acquirers
  • Supports ATM, POS, Contactless and EMV Chip Card applications
  • American Express/MasterCard/VISA Card Generation and Verification functions
  • Remote Key Loading Capability for ATMs such as NCR and Diebold enabling the automated initialization of ATM master keys for significant cost savings
  • Compliance with "key bundle" requirements of ANSI X9.24 using TR-31 for interoperable key blocks and Thales Key Block for local keys
  • Multiple Local Master Keys for key protection isolation and to allow support for existing applications while migrating to Thales Key Blocks
