The Datacryptor 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, and 10 Gbps Ethernet Layer 2 modules protect the confidentiality of
sensitive and high value data, voice, and video over Ethernet LAN and WAN backbones. The products are
transparent to line protocols and offer customers end-to end integration into existing Layer 2 communications
infrastructures. The units are designed to protect tactical and fixed configurations and overcome the
complexities typically associated with IPSec for point-to-point applications by protecting the confidentiality
and integrity of critical networks and the strongest commercially available cryptography. Ease-of-use and
quick setup make the Datacryptor Ethernet Layer 2 encryptors a natural choice for point-to-point networks.
The units secure the most demanding service requirements in real-time using the latest encryption algorithm –
AES (256 bit).
Higher speed 1 and 10 Gbps units also have unique ability to support Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DSDM)
and encrypt specific channels within optical streams, providing not only utmost security, but also cost
savings by enabling optimum bandwidth utilization. Available interfaces and operational modes enable the
platform to be tailored to match the specific needs of the customer.
The Datacryptor 100 Mbps, 1 and 10 Gbps Ethernet Layer 2 uses multiples modes of operation including Bulk
(Frame) mode where the unit encrypts everything including the Ethernet Header, and the Tunnel mode which
encapsulates the entire frame with anew user-selectable header that can support Virtual LANs (VLANs) tags.
Available interfaces and operation modes enable the platform to be tailored to match the specific needs of
the customer.
